How to paraphrase "CRIME"

1. OFFENCE - an illegal act or a crime.
Collocations: to commit an offence, serious/minor offence
Example:
Penalty may take forms varying from capital punishment to imprisonment, fines, and even deferred sentences which come into operation only if an offence is repeated within a specified time.


ILLEGAL ACT - act prohibited by official rules or law
Collocations: commit an illegal act, commission of an illegal act

Example:
When an official was alleged to have committed an illegal act, there was the choice of dealing with it in either disciplinary or criminal proceedings.

DELINQUENCY - behaviour, especially of a young person, that is illegal or not acceptable to most people

Example:
Drug trafficking, terrorism and common delinquency influenced the effective exercise of the population's human rights.
LAWBREAKING - an act punishable by law; usually considered as an evil act

Example:
It must be highlighted that any lawbreaking - in terms of violence, abuse of authority, or harassment towards any prisoner - is a disciplinary infringement.

VIOLATION OF LAW - any act that fails to abide by existing law

Example:
Any victim of a violation of the law may apply to the competent court for reparation for harm suffered.

Very often in IELTS exam you can be asked to write an essay related to CHILDREN.
But how to avoid repetition of this word while composing an essay? Use the following synonyms and you will not repeat the word twice!
MINOR
a person under the legal age of full responsibility
Example:
One possible way of reducing the rate of inebriety among Russian citizens is to toughen the law against selling alcohol drinks to minors.

YOUNGSTER
a young person
Example:
There are specific legal provisions for exceptional cases where a youngster may however be punished as an adult.

OFFSPRING
children or young of a particular parent
Example:
Dads aged 35 to 44 are more likely to live with their children, which suggests being there and more involved with their offspring.

INFANT
a child during the earliest period of its life, especially before he or she can walk; baby
and also
a person who is not of full age, especially one who has not reached the age of 18 years
Example:
This racial gap has continued to widen despite the improvement in the overall infant death rate in the area.

TODDLER
a person who toddles, especially a young child learning to walk.
Example:
Toddlers usually do not speak multi-word sentences, however, they skillfully manage with remembering new names of different objects and actively use them in their speech.
